Artist's Statement

Before moving to the Valley eight years ago, I was a Winter Texan escaping the cold winters. I rode my horses in the Quachita Mountains and painted the landscapes from the trails.

Since moving here I have discovered the beautiful flowers and started painting them. My favorite medium is soft pastel but, I do enjoy oil. I don try to interpret rather than copy nature and to include emotional content in my work.

After a career in pharmaceutical sales and having the children grown, I followed my lifelong dream and enrolled in the Art Academy of Cincinnati, Ohio and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. There I fell in love with the work of the Impressionists. Workshops with WM. Schultz, who studied with Wm. Brackman continued this interest. A trip to France to study and follow the footsteps of the Impressionist painters was a great experience.

I have been accepted in and have received awards from several local and national organizations. My work can be seen at the D'Arte Center in Harlingen and The Art Gallery in Port Isabel, Texas.
